Job Specification: Nanny / Home Educator
Location: Bicester, Oxfordshire OX26

Salary: £24–£25 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule
- Monday to Thursday (2 days Nanny and 2 days home schooling)
- 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (or 7:30 am – 5:30 pm)
- Every other Wednesday, a later finish until 9:30 pm when Mum is working in London (Not essential)
About the Role
A warm and welcoming family in Oxfordshire is looking for an experienced, organised, and proactive Nanny / Educator to provide care and educational support for their children.
This is a varied role combining home education with more traditional nanny duties. Two days each week will be dedicated to supporting the home-schooling of one child (The 3 year old who is 4 in July 2027), following a curriculum provided by the school. The remaining two days will focus primarily on caring for the family’s younger child through engaging, age-appropriate activities.
Mum works from home some of the week and travels to London on Wednesdays.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver two days of structured home-schooling using the curriculum provided by the school. This will be for the eldest child and on these days the younger child will be at nursery.
- Support the children’s academic progress through engaging and creative learning.
- Provide attentive care for the younger child on the remaining two working days.
- Plan stimulating indoor and outdoor activities.
- School runs and transporting the children to activities as required.
- Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the children.
- Maintain children’s routines and encourage independence and good manners.
- Carry out all standard nursery duties, including children’s laundry, tidying bedrooms and play areas, and keeping children’s belongings organised.
- Provide occasional later evening care every other Wednesday.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience as a nanny, governess, educator, or primary teacher.
- Be confident supporting home education and following an established curriculum.
- Be warm, patient, and engaging.
- Be organised, reliable, and able to use their own initiative.
- Enjoy planning educational and creative activities.
- Be comfortable working alongside a parent who works from home.
- Be happy around dogs.
Essential Requirements
- Experienced nanny or educator.
- Driver essential.
- Confident driving children; a family car will be provided for work use.
- Excellent references.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Current Paediatric First Aid certificate (or willingness to update).
