Part-Time Housekeeper

Location: Cobham/Oxshott, Surrey
Start Date: September / October 2026

Position

A lovely family based in Cobham/Oxshott is seeking an experienced, proactive, and friendly Part-Time Housekeeper to help maintain their busy family home to a high standard.

The family has two children aged 3 and 5, both of whom attend school, with the youngest at home one day per week. They currently employ a cleaner/housekeeper twice a week for approximately 12 hours to complete deep cleaning, laundry, and ironing. They are now looking for someone who can become an integral part of the household and assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the home.

Working Hours

The family is flexible depending on the successful candidate’s experience and the scope of the role.

Option 1 – Housekeeping & Family Support

  • Up to 30 hours per week
  • Ideally across 3–4 days (Monday–Thursday)
  • Typical hours: 10:30am–6:00pm or 11:30am–7:00pm

Option 2 – Housekeeping Only

  • Approximately 20 hours per week
  • Ideally worked across Monday and Thursday or Friday

Salary

Competitive salary, depending on experience and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Maintain the home to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Deep clean the kitchen and bathrooms twice weekly.
  • Vacuum and clean floors throughout the house twice weekly.
  • Follow care instructions for specialist surfaces, including marble, brass, and wood.
  • Monitor cleaning supplies and advise when stock requires replenishing.
  • Load and unload the dishwasher and ensure kitchen items are stored correctly.
  • Keep kitchen cupboards clean, organised, and well maintained.
  • Unpack and organise grocery deliveries.
  • Empty household bins as required.
  • Strip and remake beds every two weeks, or as needed.
  • Keep the children’s playroom tidy and organised.

Laundry & Household Management

  • Manage family laundry, including washing, drying, folding, ironing, and putting clothing away.
  • Separate delicate and dry-clean-only items appropriately.
  • Ensure wardrobes and storage areas remain organised.

Family Cooking

  • Assist with meal preparation, including chopping and food preparation.
  • Prepare simple, nutritious meals for the children.
  • Batch cook family favourites such as lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, and pasta bake for the freezer.
  • Follow detailed instructions regarding ingredients and preparation to accommodate one child’s food allergies.

Desirable (Bonus) Duties

  • Confident and comfortable around young children.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to assist with occasional school runs.
  • Happy to supervise one or both children for short periods when required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a private housekeeper within a family home.
  • Warm, friendly, and approachable with a positive, “can-do” attitude.
  • Flexible and willing to assist wherever needed.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high housekeeping standards.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Able to work independently and use initiative.
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and reliable.
  • Excellent references.
  • Full driving licence preferred.
